Welcome to our Ecosystem Highlight series, where you’ll meet the innovators in our vast ecosystem of startup builders from across Florida, who are actively solving some of the world’s greatest challenges. We interviewed Pierre Aurimond, Founder & CEO of Flexmode, an invite-only social platform curating a scalable circle of active professionals in Miami through sport and lifestyle.

What were you doing previously, and what inspired you to join, launch, or help grow your company?

I was in institutional finance at Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas after a Master’s in Finance at King’s College London. Moving to Miami, I saw the same pattern everywhere: a city full of ambitious, active professionals with no real way to meet each other off the apps. Networking events felt transactional, fitness apps felt isolating, and private clubs were either inherited or inaccessible. I built Flexmode because the people I wanted to spend time with existed in this city; they just had no platform connecting them.

What pain point is your company solving? What gets you excited to go to work every day?

Active professionals between 23 and 40 in major cities have no curated way to build a social circle that matches their lifestyle. Dating apps, generic networking events, and open fitness communities all fail the same test: no filter, no standard, no continuity. Flexmode uses sport and lifestyle as the filter and builds the community around it. What gets me up is the circle we are building with Flexmode’s members and all the experiences and events we provide our community. We are not selling workouts. We are building the social graph for a generation that the legacy members’ club model forgot.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in helping build or scale the company? How did you overcome it?

The hardest part has been resisting the pull toward what was easier to sell. We held the line on social platform, repriced from sub-$35 to $95 and $150 to signal the standard, and rebuilt the product around curation rather than content. The result is a member base that converts on identity, not on a workout library they will never open.

Where do you see your company headed next?

Miami is the proving ground. Houston follows, then New York and Los Angeles, then the broader US footprint across Austin, Chicago, Dallas, San Diego, and Atlanta. International comes after with Dubai, London, and Toronto. The longer thesis is that Flexmode becomes the default social layer for active professionals in every city where this demographic concentrates, with a Founder tier that gives the highest-commitment members cross-city access and a direct line to the experiences, partners, and people that make this community valuable.

Give us a tactical piece of advice that you’d share with someone building or growing a company.

Price for the customer you want, not the customer you can get today. Underpricing reads as desperation and attracts the wrong member or user from day one. If your offer is real, charge what it is worth and let the price do the filtering work your product cannot do yet.

Why Florida?

Miami is the only US city where the lifestyle, the density of ambitious newcomers, and the year-round sport culture all converge. The talent moving here from New York, LA, and abroad arrives without an existing social circle and actively wants one. Florida also offers a regulatory and tax environment that lets a bootstrapped founder build longer before raising, and an ecosystem (Embarc, eMerge, the family offices concentrating here) that takes consumer and lifestyle seriously in a way other markets still do not. Building Flexmode anywhere else would have meant building a worse version of it.
